Overview
Rupin Supin is a spectacular, but lesser-known trek providing phenomenal views of both Himachal and Uttarakhand peaks, The trek starts from the Rupin valley and ends in Supin valley, both of which join to become Tons, a tributary of Sutlej. This trek represents slightly longer walks, but some incredible views. You will be walking in areas with little human habitations, in solitude with nature. Through this trek, one gets to relish the adventurous part of the religious Yamunotri valley. The path goes through villages that emit extravaganze of old village life. The genuine beauty of Osla and Ghangad villages gives an insight into the ancient yet modern Himalayan lifestyle. Then comes Debshu Bugyal. Just like any alpine meadows, this enhances the beauty of the Rupin & Supin Valley Trek. It also completes the trek in all terms. Ruinsara Tal is the cherry on the cake of this trek. It is a magnifying source of beauty that reflects everything around it with a filter of magnificence. The climax is the summit climb to Bali pass which is always snow-packed making it no closer to a cakewalk. Best Time to Visit: Rupin And Supin Valley Trek is Beautiful and Pleasant for whole Year. Best time of year include December to April, Expect trekking on the snow in the mid of December. During winters, Bali pass covered in the thick blanket of snow best for skiers.
Itinerary
Day 01: Drive to Himri
You will be picked up from Dehradun railway station if you are arriving by overnight train from Delhi. Alternatively, you may arrive the previous day and stay at nearby Mussoorie hill station and spend a day getting used to higher altitudes. We will pick you up from Mussoorie in that case. The day is a 6-hour drive along the Yamuna river, driving past Mussoorie, Kempty falls, etc. Grab a window seat and you will have some lovely views of Yamuna. We will stop en route at the banks of Yamuna for you to have some fun in the water. But beware a bath in the waters depend on the speed of the water. Post lunch drive will be an uphill drive through the virgin pine forest till you reach Mori. From here you will be driving along the Tons river to our camp at Himri on the banks of the Tons river. You will be staying in the tent tonight. The adventurous can take bath in the cold waters.
Day 02: Himri to Badang via Sarutal
After a hearty breakfast, we start a short drive to Sarutal up to which the road is now ready, the last village on the trail. Our trek starts from Bitri and we have a relatively short and easy hike to Sarutal. Today we trek 8 km from Sarutal to Badang, which is at an altitude of 3000m. The trek is through the forest and we will cross multiple streams during the day. We will camp at Badang campsite by a stream. However, in early summer the streams are likely to be dry or have little water flowing as the snow might not have melted yet.
Day 03: Badang to Masundhadhar
We will be walking 5 km during the day and will reach the highest point, Masundhadhar (3600m) Vijay top (4000m) is a short but tough climb from here. During the trek, you will get to see peaks from Changsheel to Baradsar on the Himachal side and Kedarkantha and Swargarohini on the Uttarakhand side.
Day 04: Masundhadhar to Pachithach
Day 4 is a ridge walk with Uttarakhand to your right and Himachal to your left. You are left with wonderful sights today. Early in the day, you will hit snow patches and our guides will help you navigate the snow. You will become an expert in walking in the snow before the end of the day; you will get to cross multiple patches. You will be walking above the tree line and will find lots of rhododendron bushes. In April, they will be in bloom and offer a wonderful sight. Midway, you will hit a pass, the left takes you to Baradsar and the right to Supin Valley.
Day 05: Pachithach to Badithach
Day 5 is a relaxed walk of a mere 5 km after the tough walk of the previous day. We will start in a relaxed fashion, enjoying views of Devkyara, Ringlana, Swargarohini, Yamunotri Pass, and Manjhikanda pass. Early summers will provide you with sights of frozen waterfalls as well. We will walk 5 km in the company of beautiful peaks and rhododendron forests to Badi Thach.
Day 06: Badithach to Jakhol
After breakfast, on the last day of trekking, we climb down 9 kms to the road head near Jhakol. The walk is along beautiful trail still providing magnificient views, with Supin river for company. From Jhakol, we will drive to Sankri and stay at hotel for the night. Sankri hotel offers comfortable stay and running hot water (not available early in the morning as it is solar heated)..
Day 07: Lower Dhamni to Jaan ki Chatti and Drive to Dehradun
The last day of the trek has finally arrived. This will be the easiest day filled with a lot of descends and mild ascend. The trail is a well-paved cement pathway. There is a slight ascend to Yamunotri which may take another 1-2 hours. Leave early from the campsite to reach Dehradun. p>
